A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Capstar (nitenpyram) kills nearly 100% of fleas in less than 8 hrs. It has no side effects or contraindications. Safe for pregnant and nursing females, and for puppies and kittens 4 weeks and older and 2 lbs. and greater. Cats & Dogs: <25lbs: 1 tablet 11.4mg
Dogs: 25.1 - 125lbs: 1 tablet 57.0mg
Dogs > 125lbs are given an appropriate combination of tablets. PROGRAM Tabs/Suspension contain lufenuron which break the flea life cycle by inhibiting egg development. If a pet currently has a flea infestation, more rapid relief can be accomplished by combining CAPSTAR and PROGRAM to the treatment.
Single dose of CAPSTAR should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day.
To give CAPSTAR Tablets, place the pill directly in your pet's mouth, or hide it in food. If you hide the pill in food, watch closely to make sure your pet swallows the pill. If you are not sure that your pet swallowed the pill, it is safe to give a second pill.
Treat all infested pets in the household. Fleas can reproduce on untreated pets and allow infestations to persist.
